Project EverGreen’s “GreenCare for Troops” is issuing a call for reinforcements from contractors nationwide. “This is an opportunity to do a patriotic public service while putting both your firm and your industry in a favorable light,” said Den Gardner, executive director of Project EverGreen. “Through this successful program, we match local firms willing to provide free lawn and landscape maintenance for families whose major breadwinner is serving in the Middle East. We are currently working with or have applications from more than 4,300 families and need to enlist more help as soon as possible.”
Contractors interested in volunteering or in obtaining more information about GreenCare for Troops should access the Project EverGreen website at www.projectevergreen.com or call toll-free at (877) 758-4835.
Gardner said that GreenCare for Troops, now in its second year, has proven to be very flexible, allowing local providers to tailor it to their operation without being a burden. Here are the program’s basic details:
Volunteers are asked to furnish lawn and landscape services to affected families at no charge for a year.
Those who volunteer can specify the limits of their involvement – i.e. how many families they wish to serve and what service they will provide.
Project EverGreen will coordinate matching local providers with families. This enables the provider to work with only one family or as many as they choose.
Participants will receive a special "MissionKit," complete with marketing and promotional materials as well as a business blueprint for using the program to generate favorable exposure for their services.
Lawn and landscape contractors do not need to be contributors to Project EverGreen to participate, although voluntary contributions are appreciated.
